Title: Holy Trouble Makers

The Ecosystem Of Change;                      Show up-Speak up-Stand up!

1 Kings 18 NLT

11 And now you say, ‘Go and tell your master, “Elijah is here.”’

17 When Ahab saw him, he exclaimed, “So, is it really you, you troublemaker of Israel?”

18 “I have made no trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “You and your family are the troublemakers, for you have refused to obey the commands of the Lord and have worshiped the images of Baal instead.

19 Now summon all Israel to join me at Mount Carmel, along with the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah who are supported by Jezebel.[a]”

20 So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel.

21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.

Show Up!

11 And now you say, ‘Go and tell your master, “Elijah is here.”’

I am here!

I repeat after me “I am here!”

Life begins when we show up.

Change takes place when we show up.

The atmosphere shifts when we show up.

Christ is exalted when we show up.

God‘s promises are fulfilled when we show up.

Hell trembles when we show up.

Heaven rejoices when we show up.

Families are saved when we show up.

God makes a way when we show up.

Doors open when we show up.

The world changes when we show up.

For when we show up, I show up, you show up, we never show up by ourselves.

When you like Elijah declare “I am here”, it is not the “I” of narcissism, egocentrism, unbridled humanism or selfishness.

When you declare “I am here”’you are declaring; the “I am who I AM declares that I am” is here.

The “I am” of Galatians chapter 2 verse 20 is here.

The “I am” that died with Jesus and resurrected with Christ is here.

The “I am” that is hidden in the finished work of Jesus is here.

The “I am” so filled with the Holy Spirit that is no longer I who lives but Christ lives in me, is here.

When you are a born-again child of God and declare “I am here” what you really technically want to say is “we are here!”

Because in reality when you show up you never show up by yourself.

Every time you show up as a child of God every time you are present in mind, body, soul and spirit, emotionally, intellectually and financially, you never arrive by yourself.

Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls can you shout the word “entourage”?

Can you shout the word “posse”?

Psalm 23:6 Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.

The angel of the LORD surrounds those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7

These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. Mark 16:17

When you show up, goodness shows up. When you show up, mercy shows up.       When you show up, angels show up

When you show up signs and wonders show up.

And more importantly when you show up the Father shows up, the Son shows up, and the Holy Spirit says I am here!

Jesus said in Matthew chapter 5 verse 14 that you are the light of the world which means when you show up the light shows up and darkness must flee. Therefore, God is telling you this morning to stop making excuses and show up.Stop going around in circles in life‘s proverbial desert and show up. Stop playing the victim role and show up. Stop blaming others and show up. Stop waiting for government to solve your problems and show up. Stop waiting for a stimulus check and show up. Stop saying one day and make today that day and show up.Stop being easily offended and show up. Stop bringing up the past and show up.
Show up with your prayers. Show up with your worship. Show up with your shout. Show up with your praise. Show up with love. Show up with truth. Show up with forgiveness.Show up with Compassion.Show up with service to others.
Show up and start some trouble!Show up and stir things up!

17 When Ahab saw him, he exclaimed, “So, is it really you, you troublemaker of Israel?”

Here comes trouble!

Do you know of a troublemaker in your family?

Were you the trouble maker?

The moment the king of Israel saw the prophet he said here comes trouble.

We need some holy troublemakers to rise up!

But Pastor is that biblical?

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace on the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword [of division between belief and unbelief]. Matthew 10:34

Not finding them there, they dragged out Jason and some of the other believers instead and took them before the city council. “Paul and Silas have caused trouble all over the world,” they shouted, “and now they are here disturbing our city, too. Acts 17:6

Revelation 2:20 tells us that even Christians are guilty of tolerating the spirit of Jezebel. Troublemakers are those that they are to confront the spirit of Jezebel in their respective generations.

To be a troublemaker spiritually and prophetically speaking is to stir things up, to flip the script, to inject a virus in the algorithm of unrighteousness.

I prophesy a generation of troublemakers rising up.

I prophesy a generation of Elijah type righteous holy truth centered love filled troublemakers rising up.

Elijah, in the eyes of the King of Israel was a troublemaker because he confronted sin, moral relativism, cultural decadence and spiritual apathy. Elisha his successor confronted foreign Kings.

Let me be clear, before Elisha confronted the King of Assyria in 2 Kings 8, Elijah confronted king of Israel in 1 Kings 18.

You do not know what this means but you will in the next two minutes and 18 seconds.

Before Elisha his successor confronted the King of Assyria, a foreign and external king, Elijah confronted his own king.

What does this mean?

Before Elisha caused trouble out there, Elijah caused trouble inside here.

What does this mean for us?

Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Matthew 7:5

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? 1Peter 4:17

This is hard so please put on your seatbelt.

Before we overturn Roe versus Wade in the Supreme Court we have to overturn Roe versus Wade in the Church of Jesus Christ.

Before we address human sexuality in the culture we have to address biblical sexuality in the church.

Before we flip the script in the world, we have to flip the script in our families, in our churches in our community.

Before we point the finger over there we need to point the finger over here.

Let’s stop trying to change something out there when we haven’t changed that very thing in here.

We all got upset when the governor of California declared that the church was not essential but why didn’t we get upset when a good number of Christians in California behaved like the church was not essential?

We have to start trouble in Israel before we start trouble in Assyria.

We have to fix what’s wrong in our house before we address what’s wrong in our neighbors house.

We need troublemakers in every house, in every city, and every church.

But praise be to God, I’m here to prayerfully declare that this is a season where God is putting his house in order because we are about to crash the gates of hell!

God is getting your house in order in order to give you the legitimacy to crash the gates of hell!

God is putting everything right inside of you so you can fix what’s wrong outside of you!

He is saving you so you can save others.

He healed you so you can heal others

He is setting you free so you can set others free.

The same God that is doing the work in you is the God that will do the work through you.

God is at work in you.

God is at work with you.

God is at work through you.

Here comes trouble!

Here comes trouble!

Speak Up!

Change takes place when we speak up!

He told Ahab what to do!

What gave him authority?

What made him legitimate?

What prompted Ahab to obey a troublemaker prophet?

Elijah’s integrity.

Elijah’s influence.

Elijah’s testimony!

He prayed no more rain.

And it did not rain.

Elijah is a troublemaker.

Elijah is problematic.

Elijah is a nuisance (aka pain)

But when he prays, God responds.

They may not like you but they will respect you.

They may not follow you on Facebook but they will respect you.

They may not share your post but they will respect you.

Stop looking for people to like you and start expecting respect!

Respect arises when people see God answered our prayers.

When We Show Ahab God’s Power, Then He Will Follow!

He begins by telling Ahab, the King, the husband of the woman who hated him, the King that was seeking to kill him to go get something.

Why would Ahab the king, Ahab the government obey a prophet of God; the infamous troublemaker?

What did Ahab just witness? He just witnessed a three year drought all because Elijah prayed.

When those in power, when those that persecuted you, when those in authority witness God answer your prayers, they will not only respect you, they will submit to your word.

So it is cumbersome upon us to ask;

Why doesn’t Uncle Sam, the Supreme Court, the White House or Congress or the culture respect the church?

Maybe because they hear us talk but see little action.

Maybe because they are waiting to see that when we pray, praise and preach, God shows up and something happens!

Saints, When those in authority or those that persecuted you see God answer your prayers, they will not only respect you but they will submit to your authority.

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16

The bible is full of examples where men and women prayed and something happened.

Hannah prayed , give me a son, in 1 Samuel 1:11 and something happened.

Hezekiah prayed, remember me, in Isaiah 38:2 when he was about to die and something happened.

Jabez prayed, enlarge my territory, 1 Chronicles 4:10 and something happened.

Jesus prayed for Lazarus to come forth and something happened! John 11

Jesus prayed for the Father’s will to be done and something happened! Matthew 26

Jesus prayed on the Cross and something happened! Matthew 27

It’s time to show Ahab that when we pray something happens.

It’s time to show Jezebeel that when we praise something happens.

It’s time to show the false prophets that God is still on the throne; that there is still power in his name and that the gates of hell will not prevail!

That when we call out to God, something happens!

When Elijah prayed something happened!

God is looking for catalytic people.

He seeks those that can shift atmospheres, cities and nations with their prayers, praise and preachings!

Luke 10:19

Let your friends

Let your haters

Let both Ángels and demons..

Let all hell know your reputation.

Let all hell and regional principalities know who you are.

Let them respond the way Ahab responded.

Let them say; he or she is, TROUBLEMAKER!

But when they pray….mountains move!

When they praise….Heaven shows up!

When they shout…. walls come down!

When they love…fear is cast out

When they declare truth… people are set free.

When they sow, they reap a harvest.

When they speak into dead bones, the dead bones come back to life.

Prayer is the process, miracle is the outcome. Prayer is the process, testimony is the outcome.

Something happens!

TYN:

When I pray, something happens

When I praise, something happens

When I prophesy, something happens.

When I do God’s word, something happens.

When I tithe, something happens.

When I lay hands on the sick, something happens!

When I take care of the poor, something happens.

When I do justice, something happens.

When I call out the name of Jesus, SOMETHING HAPPENS!

Stand Up!

21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.

He stood in front.

He stood in front.

He stood in front.

Not in the back.

Deuteronomy 28:13!

It’s time to be the head and not the tail.

It’s time to be on top and not below!

It’s time to be in front and not in the back!

Stand up!

Speak up!

Take charge!

How long!

In your mind, family, relationship, community, generation, nation; Stand up in front!

Two opinions!

Jeremiah 32:39 and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them.

  • James 1:8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

  • Once again the audience is critically important to this narrative.
  • Elijah was speaking to his own people.
  • Elijah was speaking to his own family.
  • Elijah was speaking to his own “church”.

His community was divided.

His generation was divided.

His nation was divided.

Even individually we fight between two opinions.

You and I have the same identical struggle that Elijah referenced on Mount Carmel close to 3000 years ago.

Two opinions?

Flesh and Spirit.

Past and future.

Memories and imagination.

Fear and faith.

The old man and the new creation.

The victim and the conqueror

The emotional you and the logical you.

The wounded you and the healed you.

Yet the most egregious and unacceptable trigger that prompted Elijah to pray down fire was not just the division and strife and discord but it was the silence.

It was the silence.

It was the silence.

Elijah confronted him with the truth and yet they stayed silent and said nothing.

Here we go again!

Brothers and sisters; may the following word penetrate the inner most part of your being;

Silence is not an option!

There is no such thing as silent Christianity.

There is no such thing as a Christian on mute.

There is no such thing as politically correct believers. There is no such animal as complacent convictions. There is no such reality as comfortable courage.

A silent church is a dead church.

There is no such animal is Christianity on mute.

The virus affecting the 21st-century church is called conformity complacency and comfort.

There’s a vaccine for that!

It’s not Pfizer, Moderna, J and J, the vaccine was developed in the laboratory of Acts 2 and patented in Ephesians 5:18; BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT!

It’s time to speak up!

In front of Pharaoh Moses spoke up.

In front of Goliath, David spoke up.

In front of the Babylonian king Daniel spoke up.

In front of all of humanity’s sin Jesus spoke up.

It’s time to show up, speak up and stand up!

We either show up with the power of God or bow in the presence of Ahab.

We either speak up with truth and love or bow in the presence of lies and hate.

We either stand up in the name of Jesus or bow in the presence of Baal.

Future generations will look at us and either say “that’s the generation that stood up in the name of Jesus” or “that is the generation that bowed down in the presence of Baal.”

Will we remain silent while the enemy comes after our children with pedophilia and promiscuity?

Will we remain silent….

Silence was not an option for Joshuah in the Israelites when the walls of Jericho stood in their way.

Silence was not an option for Daniel with the governmental authorities forbid him from praying.

He opened up the windows and raise the volume!

Silennce was not an option for the crying prophet Jeremiah when he eloquently stated I can’t stay quiet the word of the Lord is like fire shut up in my bones.

Silence was not an option for the blind man Bartimeus.

When Paul and Silas were in prison at the midnight hour did they stay quiet? Were they silent?

Listen carefully, the enemy will come after the area that you are anointed to speak truth into.

The enemy will attack your family because you have a family anointing.

The enemy attacks your finances because you have a financial annointing.

Whatever the enemy is attacking he is not attacking it by coincidence he is attacking it because it has an anointing.Let me be clear we live in an age where everyone seems to be bowing down and kissing Baal.

To bow is to acquiesce, surrender, give into, and/or worship.
Satan’s quintessential objective lies in the very act of bowing down.
He wants to steal your joy, your shalom, your purpose, your worship so you end up bowing.
So when you hear that the world is becoming darker and that it seems like all hell has been set loose we should not be surprised.
We should not be surprise when the world is acting like the world.
We should not be surprise when the dogs bark and cats meow.
We should be surprise when horses bark and birds meow.
In other words we should be surprised when the church start acting like the world. When the church bows down.
Christians do not now down to Baal!
Christians do not now down to Baal!

Christians do not now down to Baal!

Things God’s People Do Not Do!
“As a born again child of God committed to Christ and His word I will not…..Go back to Egypt,Stay stuck in the desert,Drown in the Red Sea,Surrender to giants,Bow before Baal,Listen to Jezebel,Stay in the tomb,Resurrect the past,Sacrifice truth,Or Conform to this world.
Instead I will be holy, be filled, and be light. I will be the greatest blessing to everyone that knows me, in Jesus name! “
Baal wanted God’s children to bow.
But I do believe that even in the church today just like the times of Elijah there are thousands if not millions around the world who refuse to bow or kiss baal.
Even in Sacramento in California in America there still a remnant that will not bow down.
There is still a remnant that believes that God’s word shall not pass away.
There still a remnant that believe that Jesus died and resurrected and is coming back again.

There still a remnant that believes there is still power in the name of Jesus.
We won’t bow down and kiss Baal but soon and very soon, something is about to happen!

Philippians 2:10-11
Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is LordAnd God showed up!
Why did God show up! Elijah showed up. Elijah spoke up and asked the hard question?Elijah stood up!
Ahab, 950 false prophets, liars, ideologies, bad news, deception, demonic forces
on the other side; one man of God with a mantle YOU AND God will always be greater than lies and hell!
You and God will always be greater than your past your problems and your pain put together.
You and God will always be greater than…Your memories and your mistakes
1 John 4:4Romans 8:31The lord is with you like a mighty giant
Step one: Show up, speak up, stand up.Step two: Build an altar 22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets.

23 Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it.
24 Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed.
