Sermon Series: MORE!Title: Get Up and Go!

Acts 9

6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one!

8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus.

*1 More of God requires you to get up and go!

6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

He was grounded.

But not forever.

He was on the floor.

But not forever.

God’s light prompted him to collapse.

But not forever.

The same Jesus that provoked the grounding now tells him; Get up and Go!

This is our journey.

This is our truth.

This embodies our relationship with the risen Christ.

We surrender to his will and we stand with his words.

We fall and we get up.

We pray and we get up.

We repent and we get up.

We worship and we get up.

We may fall but we don’t stay there.

We may go down but we don’t stay there.

We may collapse with conviction but we don’t stay there.

We may fall because life overwhelmed with us but we do not stay there.

Jesus looked at the man who just fell overwhelmed by the light of his presence and said OK now it’s time to get up and go.

You see you can’t get stuck in one season.

You cannot permit yourself mentally emotionally spiritually financially relationally to stay stuck in one season.

You must have the maturity, the bandwidth, the understanding that there is a season to be on the ground and a season to get up and go.

King Solomon one of the most brilliant individuals to ever occupy space on this planet put it this way;

Ecclesiastes chapter 3

For everything there is a season,     a time for every activity under heaven. 2 A time to be born and a time to die.     A time to plant and a time to harvest. 3 A time to kill and a time to heal.     A time to tear down and a time to build up. 4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.     A time to grieve and a time to dance. 5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.     A time to embrace and a time to turn away. 6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.     A time to keep and a time to throw away. 7 A time to tear and a time to mend.     A time to be quiet and a time to speak. 8 A time to love and a time to hate.     A time for war and a time for peace.

From Genesis to Revelation God instructs us to get up and go!

Joshua experienced a defeat so he got on his face and prayed. Continued to stay on his face when God told him it’s not time to pray it’s time to “get up and go.”

The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? Joshua 7:10

This is the word of the Lord for someone here someone streaming who is spiritually emotionally mentally and unNationally grounded. You are on the ground facing down. This is God‘s word for you today get up and go! Get up and go! Get up and go!

Do not gloat over me, my enemies!

For though I fall, I will rise again.

Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.

Micah 7:8

When Israel was exiled in Babylonia God gave them a word;

This is God’s word for anyone who feels out of place.

For every person who feels exiled.

For every person who feels their now and their next are both in captivity.

Arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of God has risen upon you.

Isaiah 60:1

Get up and shine your light has come!

The glory of God has risen upon you!

If you can’t see what’s in front of you God says get up and go!

Mark 10:49

And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.”

Is someone you love spiritually dead God says don’t worry get up and go!

Luke 7:14

And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!”

If you have been paralyzed by fear anxiety doubt confusion unbelief trauma God says get up and go! And by the way pick up your mad because you don’t live there anymore!

John 5:8

Jesus *said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk

But get up and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you; Acts 26:16

*2 More of God requires you to get up by listening to the right voices!

7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one!

He got up! He got up! He got up!

Not by what he saw, but by what he heard.

He was blind but his ears worked perfectly!

The world needs to see it before it responds. The world needs to see it before they get out. But as followers of Jesus, we don’t need to see it, all we need to do is hear it.

Our faith is not based on what we see.

Our faith is not driven by what we see.

Our faith is driven by what we hear from heaven.

Faith comes from hearing and hearing of the word of God.

Romans 10:17

We walk by faith and not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7.

What are you hearing?

What are you listening to?

Who are you listening to?

Stop listening to negative people.

Stop listening to the voices in your head.

Stop listening to haters and detractors.

Stop listening to the lies of the enemy.

Stop listening to the voices telling you that you are beyond repair.

Stop listening to the voices telling you that you are beyond forgiveness.

Stop listening to the voices telling you you will never occupy the promises.

Stop listening to the voices of legalism and perpetual condemnation.

Stop listening to the voices that tell you you can never be holy, you will never be healed you will never be healthy.

Stop listening to serpents in the garden.

Stop listening to giants that mock you.

Stop listening to Jezebels that threaten you.

And foxes that harass you!

Raise your right hand and repeat after me:

From this moment on as for me and my house we will never again listen to voices that run contrary to the will of God or the word of God.

I will not react or respond to anything that wants to rob my peace kill my joy or destroy my purpose.

We will not adhere to respond to react or be driven by voices that have zero authority in my life. I will only respond to God’s Spirit and God’s word.

But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” Luke 8:21

blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” Luke 11:28

*3 More of God Requires you to stop depending on others and learn to pick yourself up!

8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus.

He picked himself up.

Notice how his companions were there but he picked himself up.

You have to learn to pick yourself up.

3 reasons:

*Sometimes people will try to pick you up before God is done with you on the ground. They prematurely pick you up.

Do not permit any want to pick you up until God is done doing what he desires to do.

*If others pick you up, they can drop you.

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy–

Jude 1:24

*Sometimes there are people around you but they don’t know how to pick you up.

Why couldn’t they pick them up?

Because they were nonbelievers.

When people do not believe what you believe they cannot pick you up.

If they don’t believe what you believe you’re gonna have to pick yourself up.

Later on the apostle Paul would write to a spiritual sons and daughters and parenthetically speaking would tell them regardless of what you’ve been through pick yourself up!

Pick Yourself up! “Saul picked himself up off the ground…” Acts 9:8

You can’t pray for someone else until you first learn pray for yourself.

You can’t lay hands on someone else until you first learn to lay hands on yourself.

You can’t give someone else a word until you first give yourself a word from God’s word.

Learn to pick yourself up and you will reach the place where your eyes will be open to the fullness of everything God has for you; in Jesus name!

When you encounter Jesus, you can pick yourself up.

The light of Jesus empowers you to pick yourself up!
