16 One day Samson went to the Philistine town of Gaza and spent the night with a prostitute.

2 Word soon spread[a] that Samson was there, so the men of Gaza gathered together and waited all night at the town gates. They kept quiet during the night, saying to themselves, “When the light of morning comes, we will kill him.”

3 But Samson stayed in bed only until midnight. Then he got up, took hold of the doors of the town gate, including the two posts, and lifted them up, bar and all. He put them on his shoulders and carried them all the way to the top of the hill across from Hebron.

Samson and Delilah

4 Some time later Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in the valley of Sorek.

5 The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “Entice Samson to tell you what makes him so strong and how he can be overpowered and tied up securely. Then each of us will give you 1,100 pieces[b] of silver.”

6 So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely.”

7 Samson replied, “If I were tied up with seven new bowstrings that have not yet been dried, I would become as weak as anyone else.”

8 So the Philistine rulers brought Delilah seven new bowstrings, and she tied Samson up with them.

9 She had hidden some men in one of the inner rooms of her house, and she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson snapped the bowstrings as a piece of string snaps when it is burned by a fire. So the secret of his strength was not discovered.

10 Afterward Delilah said to him, “You’ve been making fun of me and telling me lies! Now please tell me how you can be tied up securely.”

11 Samson replied, “If I were tied up with brand-new ropes that had never been used, I would become as weak as anyone else.”

12 So Delilah took new ropes and tied him up with them.

(Well, I guess Delilah and Samson were into that kind of thing 😳😂)

The men were hiding in the inner room as before, and again Delilah cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But again Samson snapped the ropes from his arms as if they were thread.

13 Then Delilah said, “You’ve been making fun of me and telling me lies! Now tell me how you can be tied up securely.”

Samson replied, “If you were to weave the seven braids of my hair into the fabric on your loom and tighten it with the loom shuttle, I would become as weak as anyone else.”

So while he slept, Delilah wove the seven braids of his hair into the fabric.

14 Then she tightened it with the loom shuttle.[c] Again she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson woke up, pulled back the loom shuttle, and yanked his hair away from the loom and the fabric.

15 Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me three times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you so strong!”

16 She tormented him with her nagging day after day until he was sick to death of it.

17 Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut,” he confessed, “for I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.”

18 Delilah realized he had finally told her the truth, so she sent for the Philistine rulers. “Come back one more time,” she said, “for he has finally told me his secret.” So the Philistine rulers returned with the money in their hands.

19 Delilah lulled Samson to sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. In this way she began to bring him down,[d] and his strength left him.

20 Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”

When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lordhad left him.

21 So the Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They took him to Gaza, where he was bound with bronze chains and forced to grind grain in the prison.

22 But before long, his hair began to grow back.

This is the story of a man strengthened by God’s favor and weakened by his carnal frailties.

This is the story of a man with physical strength and spiritual weaknesses;
A man with prophetic authority and pathetic attractions;
A man with a covenant but without conviction; A man who had no problem overcoming the external devils but had great difficulty in defeating his internal demons.
A man with who was vertically super and horizontally way too natural.
This is the story of Samson, the Holy Hippie.
*1 Don’t Share Your Secrets with Delilah
Judges 16:
15 Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me?
Delilah wants your secrets!
The enemy of your purpose wants your secrets!
Satan wants your secrets!

What does this tell us?
First, hell doesn’t know everything.
Hell cannot understand nor can HELL explain  how Samson made it, how you made it this far?

Hell is trying to figure you out!
Hell wanted to know the secret on how Samson made it that far?
This is the kind of conversation the powers of darkness have about you just like they exhibited with Samson;

We sent a lion to devour him and it
did not work,
We sent the Philistines to ambush him, and it did not work.
We even convinced his own people to hold him captive in Judges chapter 15 and guess what, it did not work.
What’s his secret?
What’s your secret?

Do you know why the enemies of your destiny want to know your secret, because they do not know everything.

We sometimes act like the devil is all powerful.
No he’s not.
We sometimes act like Satan is all knowing. No he’s not.
We sometimes act like Beelzebub is present everywhere.
No he is not.

There’s only one …..
I said there’s only one being that is omnipotent.
There’s only one being that is omniscient.
And there was only one being that is omnipresent.

Does anyone here know who I’m talking about?

I want to remind you and remind the broken world around us;
Our God is omnipotent.
Our God is omniscient.
Our God is omnipresent.

The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob and Joseph, Matthew Mark Luke and John; Our God is all powerful, all knowing, and all present.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls;
Delilah wants your secrets!

Why?

What comes out of your mouth, if it lands in the wrong hands, can bind you.

What comes out of your mouth in the wrong hands can hold your future captive.

This is why….

Your process should be private, the outcome should be public.

The people around you can benefit from the end result but they do not need to be completely privy to the specificities that are between you and God.

Let’s go back a little bit.
In Judges 14:
9 He scooped some of the honey into his hands and ate it along the way. He also gave some to his father and mother, and they ate it. But he didn’t tell them he had taken the honey from the carcass of the lion.
Samson fed his parents with the honey from the carcass of the lion he defeated in the Vineyard.
He never told his parents how he got the honey.
It is correct to state and Samson should never of been in a place where there is wine and he should never of touched the carcass of a dead animal all violations of the rules.
Nevertheless we read afterwards that the Holy Spirit fell upon Samson.
Why did he not tell his parents?
Maybe because they would have told him “you’re not allowed to touch the carcass.”
Why didn’t he tell his parents?
It really doesn’t matter.
At the end of the day his parents were nourished with the Honey of the hell that Samson went through.
Samson overcame something that produced a benefit for the people he loved.
Let me repeat, Samson overcame something that emerged as a benefit that fed the people he loved.
The people around you don’t need to be aware of the specificities regarding the process.
Just feed them.
They don’t have to know everything.
Just feed them.
But this you must be fully committed to; do not let the people that prayed for you in the process starve to death when you can feed them with your outcome.
Accordingly permit me to strongly emphatically reiterate;

Do not grant everyone access to your prayers.

Do not grant everyone access to your dreams.

Do not grant everyone access to your wounds.

Do not grant anyone access to your conversations with God!

Access should be limited to people of integrity who can handle both the blessed and the broken you.

Access should be limited to holy, healed. healthy, happy, humble, hungry, honoring  people.

Protect your secrets from Delilah!
We live in a day and age, in a culture where we say anything and everything, post anything and everything, amplify anything and everything.
I pray that this generation will once again remember that one of the most powerful God given rights we have is the right to remain silent.

“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say could be used against you in a court of law.”
Repeat after me, “From this moment on, I will protect the promise and the process, the anointing and the access, my God given dream and my Christ bought destiny; My relationship with Jesus is everything, so Delilah, access denied, in Jesus name!”
*2 Failure is a Process not a moment!

16 She tormented him with her nagging day after day until he was sick to death of it.

17 Finally, Samson shared his secret with her.

It’s important to note that Samson did not arrive on Delilah’s lap overnight.
There is no such thing as a sudden failure.
There is no such thing as a sudden failure.
There may be an act that exposes and amplifies the failing process but failure is a process and not a moment.
From the first time Eve entertained a conversation till today, failure like success does not happen overnight, it takes a process.

The lion couldn’t defeat Sampson.
The Philistines couldn’t defeat Sampson.
His Hebrew brothers couldn’t defeat Samson.  Samson defeated Samson.
Samson was Samson’s worst enemy.
Let me prove it;
In Judges 15, when he defeated 1000 Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey,
Judges 15:15 Then he found the jawbone of a recently killed donkey. He picked it up and killed 1,000 Philistines with it.
16 Then Samson said,

“With the jawbone of a donkey,
I’ve piled them in heaps!
With the jawbone of a donkey,
I’ve killed a thousand men!”
17 When he finished his boasting, he threw away the jawbone; and the place was named Jawbone Hill.

“And you can tell everybody, I’m the man I’m the man I’m the man!”
Samson boasted and wrote his own song! The moment you write your own song, toot your own horn, you are without a doubt, on a downward spiral.
Samson can possibly be described as an old testament narcissist.

Samson was Samson’s worst enemy!
He walked in the vineyards.
Slept with prostitutes.
Touched dead animals.
Bragged about his triumphs.
And he sealed his own coffin when he fell in love with Delilah.
Jesus is your greatest blessing, you are your worst enemy.
The moment you realize that your past cannot stop you,
Hell cannot stop you,
the people around you cannot stop you,
the moment you realize that the only one that can stop you is YOU
Then nothing will be able to stop you.
In other words, here’s the great news,
There exist a biblical prescription to make certain that YOU can never stop YOU!
When you are crucified with Christ and nevertheless you live, Galatians 2:20,
when you are baptized with Christ onto death Romans 6:3,
when you are hidden in Jesus Colossians 3:3, When you abide in him and he abides in you John 15:7, then YOU no longer have to worry about YOU being your worst enemy because YOU are in Jesus and Jesus is in YOU!
Now as it pertains to Delilah;
Delilah represents and captures the spirit of the world, the pagan, the antithesis to holiness.
Saints, never fall in love with Delilah.
Never give your heart to the things of the world.

1 John 2:15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.

But here it is. This biblical passage also exposes Satan’s strategy.

Delilah engaged three classic actions derived from the very manual of satanical enticement.
First, she manipulated him, then she exploited his weakness which lead to his humiliation.
The enemy manipulates to exploit and exploits to humiliate.

The spirit of Delilah is the spirit of manipulation, exploitation and humiliation.

COERCION=Control!
Any relationship built on coercion is doomed to fail.
There are some of you here that have suffered from manipulation.
Some of you have been exploited and some have undoubtedly suffered from humiliation.

Today, you need to open your mouth with prophetic courage and Christ filled conviction and declare, once and for all the following; “I rebuke the spirit of Delilah.”

In the matter of fact I dare you to declare the following: “Never again will I be manipulated. Never again will I be exploited. Never again will I experience humiliation. ”

When Jesus set you free in John 8: 36, he set you free from every captivity, every bondage, every sin, every threat both internal and external!

Somebody shout “Bye Bye Delilah, Never Again!”

*3 You Are Not Anointed From the Outside In, You are Anointed from the Inside Out!

17 Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut,” he confessed, “for I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.”

In the Old Covenant, before Jesus died on the Cross, the Spirit fell and the Law established the parameters by which strength and favor stood revealed.

In other words, Samson’s strength came via the conduit of what he did:

If he did not cut his hair or did not drink wine, he would have supernatural strength.
His strength was directly proportional to his actions, what he did or did not do.
His actions determined his anointing.
Which meant that if the Devil discovers the source of your strength, he could bring you down.

But in the New Covenant, I’m about to preach now, because of Grace, because of the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross and his resurrection, our strength is not based on what we do, it is based on what Christ did!

My actions do not determine my anointing. It’s my anointing that determines my actions.
Stop! Get this! Breaking news!
Do not freak out but be aware of the following;

The Devil already knows the source of your strength.
The Devil already knows where your strength comes from.
And guess what, he can’t do anything about it!!!!

Jesus came so that never again the Devil can take away your strength, your joy, your anointing and your promise.

He created a way by which the strength stems not from an external action but rather by an internal truth.

In other words, he placed the source of your strength

not in your hair,
not in your eyes,
not in your mouth,
but in the only place the Devil cannot reach, the Spirit of God inside of you.
Let the weak say I am strong. Joel 3:10
The enemy doesn’t have access to your anointing! Because the anointing is no longer just on you, the anointing lives inside of you.
1 John 2:27
TYN:
You can cut off my hair, but you can’t take my anointing!
You can lie about me, but you can’t take my anointing!
You can post about me, but you can’t touch my anointing!
You can cheat on me, but you can’t touch my anointing!
You can betray me, but you can’t touch my anointing!
Because the anointing is not in the length of my hair.
The anointing is in the size of my God!
And I serve an awesome God!
Just like Samson you and I are anointed.
Just like Samson you and I have supernatural strength.
But unlike Samson, we are not anointed from the outside in, we are anointed from the inside out.
Do you want to know the secret of my strength?
Do you really want to know why I continue to overcome?
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in
persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Are there any anointed people?
Praise like you are anointed!
Shout like ….
Talk….
Live…..
TYN: I’m about to tell you the secret of my strength.
It’s not my hair,
it’s not my eyes,
it’s not my bank account.
My strength is Jesus!
My strength is Christ and Christ alone.
That’s why I can say Greater is he that is in me that he that is in the world.

The secret is out, as long as Jesus lives, I live! As long as Jesus is strong I have strength.

As long as Jesus moves, I move.
My strength is not in my hair.
My strength lies in he who dwells in my heart!

*4 Do Not Nap on Delilah’s Lap!
In this way she began to bring him down, and his strength left him.

Just like Judas sold Jesus out so did Delilah sell out Samson.

When she realized that he told her the truth, she put him to sleep.
Btw: she never cut Samson’s hair. She never shaved his hair. Her assignment was to put him to sleep.
A nameless Philistine who was waiting/hiding did the dirty work.
The spirit of Delilah is the spirit that makes you rest in the wrong place making you vulnerable to a nameless assault.
Oh how the enemy not only wants to exploit your weakness but he takes advantage when you are spiritually tired, exhausted and vulnerable.

Here’s a life lesson, never place your head on Delilah’s lap.

Don’t fall asleep.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-6
For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.

Hence the problem.

We have too many Christ followers falling asleep.
Here’s what happens when we fall asleep.
I remember driving down a road after speaking and traveling back on 99 from L.A.
I began to fall asleep.
Two things happened.
First, I began to swerve, go from side to side. Second, I began to see things that were not there.
Let me preach again.
There are things you are seeing and panicking about that are actually not there. The
only reason you are seeing them is because you are not completely awake.

I had to do one thing.

In light of the fact that all Starbucks were closed, I lowered the window, and smacked myself.
Sometimes, God permits life to hit us, not to harm us but to keep us awake.
Right in front of me was a truck that fell asleep etc…

TYN: Wake up. Get off that lap, Wake UP!!!

Romans 13:11

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-6

For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.

Ephesians 5:14 For anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Proverbs 20:13

Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread.

Wake up!!!

*5 In Christ, The Hair Will Always Grow Back!

20 Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”

When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him.

This is one of the saddest verses in scripture. Samson did not realize the Lord had left him!

He attempted to do what he did before but this time it did not work because the Lord bless them. He was alone. The Lord bless them. He was alone.
The Lord left him and he did not even know it.
Oh, how I thank God that Grace is greater than the law.
Because while the law provided space for God’s Spirit to depart, his Grace compels him to stand with us until the ends of the earth.
John 10:29
for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else.[a] No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.
Hebrews 13:5, I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Samson realized that with the Spirit he overcame Lions.
With the Spirit he lifted up gates.
With the Spirit he defeated armies.
With the Spirit he broke off ropes and chains.
But without the Spirit, he could do nothing!

This is why David prayed what he prayed  in Psalm 51. You can take away anything but not the Holy Spirit.

21 So the Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They took him to Gaza, where he was bound with bronze chains and forced to grind grain in the prison.

22 But before long, his hair began to grow back.

22 But before long, his hair began to grow back.

22 But before long, his hair began to grow back.
God never gives up on you.
God knew Samson would mess up.
God knew Delilah would entice him.
God knew the Philistines would capture him.
And with all he knew God still made certain Samson’s hair would grow back!!!!
WHAT WAS GOD THINKING WHEN THE Philistine  SHAVED Samson’s HEAD!
And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. LUKE 12:7

I placed them there!
I will place them again!

Although Samson failed, his hair did grow back.
When God starts something in our lives, not even our own failures can deter him. #refresh

What the devil cuts off, God will grow back!

God always has the final word.
He won’t let the Devil win even when you screw up, he still won’t let the Devil win.
If through the law, he restored Samson imagine how much he will do it under grace.
Ephesians 1:
13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own[d]by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.
14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
The Holy Spirit guarantees that we will get back up!
The Holy Spirit is the guarantee that we will make it!
Not for your sake but because God paid too much of a price…
Proverbs 24:16 For though the righteous fall seven times, he will still get up.

Psalm 37:24

Though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.

2 Corinthians 4:9

Persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

Micah 7:8

Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.

Here’s God’s word for you today;

Whatever the devil cut off, whatever you permitted the enemy to cut off, IT WILL GROW BACK.
Whether it was what the enemy did or what you did to yourself, IT WILL GROW BACK!

TYN: I just got a word. Before  this year is over, everything the enemy cut off, will grow back!!!!!!

This is the year to get back up!
This is the year of the comeback!

This is the year to get it all back!
We fall down
But we get up
We fall down
But we get up
We fall down
But we get up
For a saint
Is just a sinner who fell down,
But we couldn’t stay there,
And got up
We fall down, but we get up
We fall down, but we get up
We fall down, but we get up
For a saint is just a sinner who fell down and got up!
