Sermon Series: The Holy Hippie

Sweet Victory

Honey Out Of Hell

14 One day when Samson was in Timnah, one of the Philistine women caught his eye.

2 When he returned home, he told his father and mother, “A young Philistine woman in Timnah caught my eye. I want to marry her. Get her for me.”

And that’s how I ended up with Pastor Eva.

She caught my eye and I when I arrived home I told my mom and dad, I want to marry her.

Get her for me!  LOL!!!!

#1 You Don’t Need People’s Approval to Fulfill God’s Assignment.

If God’s plan makes no sense to the closest people around you, it doesn’t matter; keep going!

3 His father and mother objected. “Isn’t there even one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry?” they asked. “Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?”

But Samson told his father, “Get her for me! She looks good to me.”

4 His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this, creating an opportunity to work against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.

Samson was born with a purpose.

You were born with a purpose.

Before he was born, Judges 13 teaches us that God had a plan for that Holy Hippie.

Well, I have news.

God has great plans for you!

God has great plans for your family.

God has great plans for the legacy of your last name.

God has great plans for your generation.

God has great plans for our region, state and nation.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

This is why the Scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine — these are the many things God has in store/planned for all his lovers.          1 Corinthians 2:9 TPT

God had a plan for Samson and yet his parents with all good intentions did not understand.

Why?

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

Sometimes his plans do not seem to make any sense to the people closest to you.

Sometimes what God wants for us is not what those around us want for us.

Sometimes God’s plan makes no sense to your family.

Sometimes God’s plan makes no sense to your friends.

But here it is;

Surround yourself with people that trust God even when they don’t understand God.

Surround yourself with people that do not leave you when you decide to respectfully reject their objection.

Saints, we have to listen to God more than we listen to men!

We have to listen to God more than we listen to influencers.

We have to listen to God more than we listen to the voices in our head; the voices from our past and the voices from our pain.

*The victories in front you are directly proportional to the voices around you.

*The advice you receive will impact the anointing you carry.

His parents spoke into him a word that contradicted God’s plan.

You Don’t Need People’s Approval to Fulfill God’s Assignment.

If God’s plan makes no sense to the closest people around you, it doesn’t matter. Keep Going!

Trust God!

He trusted God’s peace inside of him.

It’s time for God’s children to raise up and declare;

We trust God more than we trust CNN.

We trust God more than we trust Social media.

We trust God more than we trust politicians.

We trust God more than we trust Uncle Sam.

We trust God more than our great friends.

When the Holy Spirit is your confidant, you will never be led astray.

When you are driven by the Spirit, nothing can stop you. Galatians 5:16

Why?

What you hear in the Spirit is way more powerful than what you hear in the flesh.

If what you are being told does not line up with God’s destiny, purpose, and promise for your life, then do the following; respectfully decline and KEEP GOING!

#2 Whatever You’re Going, Growing or Groaning Through; God Is At Work In It!

4 His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this,

I love what the Bible says here; The Lord was at work in this.

God is at work in this!

The people around you may not see it, you may not see it, your haters may not see it (yet) but..

Whatever you’re going through, God is a work in this!

It makes no sense.

God is at work in this!

It’s illogical.

God is at work in this!

But I lost my job!

God is a work in this.

But my marriage is crumbling!

God is at work in this.

But what about the medical report?

God is at work in this!

It doesn’t matter what you are going through, what you are growing through, or what you are groaning through;

God is at work in this!

How do we know?

Luke 1:37 The word of God never fails.

And what does the word say;

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.         Romans 8:28 NLT

So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together for good,[a] for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. Romans 8:28 TPT

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6

#3 Obstacles Expose Opportunities

…..creating an opportunity to work against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.     Judges 14:4

5 As Samson and his parents were going down to Timnah, a young lion suddenly attacked Samson near the vineyards of Timnah.

First, notice who accompanied him?

The same parents who objected.

I love this!

You want people in your life like that.

People that say I know God has a plan for you.

God spoke to us about you.

So even when we don’t understand you, or God’s strategy in your life, we will be with you.

Wait! He was on his way to do what?

Get his wife.
And a lion attacks Samson.
A lion attacks whom?
Not his parents but Samson.
Samson the Nazarite.
Samson the man with God’s plan.
The enemy comes after the Nazarites.
The enemy comes after those who do not conform to this world. Romans 12:2
The enemy comes after those that refuse to quench the Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:19
He was on his way….
Saints, we must learn that the enemy shows up when we are on our way to acquire what we want.
The Bible says this was an opportunity to work against, break the Philistine stronghold.
And a lion shows up to stop Samson.
Opportunity, obstacle.
Opportunity, opposition.
The obstacle is indicative of an opportunity.
Hell opposes heavenly opportunities.
Obstacles expose opportunities.
Behind the lion stood  a relationship that would have turned the table on multi generational captivity.
Behind your battle there is a breakthrough that will define your children and your children ‘s children’s future!
Your fight is not for you!
Your fight is for those that follow you!
The lion represents nothing other than the adversary’s attempt to deter us from obtaining what God has for us.
Recent distractions and disruptions speak to a breakthrough right around the corner.
On the other side of the battle, breakthrough.
On the other side of the pain, the promise.
Lions should not scare us.
They should prompt us to shout Hallelujah because they appear when we are getting close to our victory.
A Lion today equals a breakthrough tomorrow!
1 Peter 5:8
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
Hold on a second, they approached where, what?
The vineyards of Timnah.
Hold on a second.
The lion came toward him when he was approaching the vineyards.
WAIT. What’s wrong with this picture?
Samson was a what?
A Nazarite.
He couldn’t drink what? Wine.
And where was he approaching?
A vineyard. (Illustrate)
The lion appeared as he approached it. Sometimes, God permits things to come our way in order to protect us from failure.
Sometimes good will permit a fight in order to prevent a failure.
Wow!!!
Get this.
It’s better to fight the devil off then fall into temptation.
In other words, sometimes God permits us to fight the LION so we won’t be bitten by the snake!
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
TYN: Don’t be Afraid of Lion’s in the Vineyard! Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!
If the Spirit of Jesus lives inside of you and he is the lion of tribe of Judah then you have the spirit of the lion of Judah inside of you!
Simply stated,
The Lion inside of you will always defeat the lions in front of you.
The Lion of Judah is for you.
The Lion of Judah is with you.
The Lion of Judah is in you!
ROAR!

#4 The Holy Spirit Is Why You Fight!

6 At that moment the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him, and he ripped the lion’s jaws apart with his bare hands. He did it as easily as if it were a young goat. But he didn’t tell his father or mother about it.

Our faith stands measured not by what we do when heaven falls upon us but rather by what we do when hell stands next to us.
Samson fought back!
Samson fought back!
He was a Nazarite!
He was anointed.
The Spirit of the Lord came upon him!
He had no choice!
You can’t speak like heaven and look like hell!
You can’t speak faith and walk in fear.
You can’t lift up Jesus and be held down by Satan.
When the Spirit of the Lord is both in you and upon you what do you do?
FIGHT BACK!
He prepares our hands for battle!
He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow.
Psalm 18:34
Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle. Psalm 144:1
We need Holy Hippies that fight!
Hey guys!
Stop asking for revival if you’re not willing to fight!
Stop asking for the Spirit to fall if you’re not willing to fight.
If you think the Spirit is falling for us to have conferences, camp meetings and celebrations, you are mistaken.
With great due deference, it’s time for the Spirit empowered church to put away the shofar down and start going to school board meetings and fight for our children;
Fight for Judeo Christian value system.
Put the flag down and tell your elected official you will not vote for them if they continue to discriminate against life, religious liberty and biblical justice.
Speaking in tongues here means very little if you are not willing to speak up out there!
Do both!
It’s time to fight!
Wait!
He ripped!
He tore!
He ripped and tore apart the lion!
Not just any part of his body but his jaw, his mouth.
That’s what lions do; rip and tear.
Samson did to the lion what the lion wanted to do to him!
Samson destroyed what should have destroyed him.
Get ready!!!
With God’s Spirit, will end up doing to the enemy what he intended to do to you!
The Holy Spirit empowers you to annihilate the very thing the enemy unleashes to annihilate you.
And the God of peace will swiftly pound Satan to a pulp under your feet! And the wonderful favor of our Lord Jesus will surround you. Romans 16:20 TPT

#5 God Will Make Honey Out of Your Hell

7 When Samson arrived in Timnah, he talked with the woman and was very pleased with her.

8 Later, when he returned to Timnah for the wedding, he turned off the path to look at the carcass of the lion. And he found that a swarm of bees had made some honey in the carcass.

9 He scooped some of the honey into his hands and ate it along the way. He also gave some to his father and mother, and they ate it. But he didn’t tell them he had taken the honey from the carcass of the lion.

He turned off the path to look at the carcass of the lion, to revisit his breakthrough, to affirm his victory.

If you find yourself turning off your path, it’s not because you’re going to wrong way, it’s because you were about to be reminded the Gos that did it before is the God that will do it again.
What did he discover?
He found honey in the midst of an old victory.
Somebody shout “Sweet victory!”
Sampson was attacked by a lion, the Holy Spirit grant him a victory that inevitably ended up feeding him.
Here’s the word of the Lord for you and your family; God can make honey out of your hell!
You will eat from the very thing that was meant to kill you.
You will be nourished from the very thing that attempted to deprive you.
You will be equipped for the next season by the very thing they try to stop you in the last season.
Only God can build you with what was meant to break you.
Only God can give you life with the same identical thing that was meant to kill you.
Only God can feed you from the very place that was meant to starve you.
Only God can take what was supposed to rob you, devour you and rip  you apart , eat you and when the day is done and the battle is over not only do you walk away in victory you can, after some time, actually revisit what was supposed to be a place of pain and instead you find honey.
Something sweet in place of the battle.
God can actually use what was assigned to bring destruction as an incubator for nourishment for you!
What could have killed you can actually sustain you!
Therefore, beloved Christ follower, here’s today’s charge: Fight your battle!
As painful and terrifying as it is right now, the day is coming when you will go back and find honey.
The honey didn’t get there overnight, but it arrived when he revisited his track.
It takes time for God to make your battle scene your feeding table.
It takes time for God to make your victory sweet.
First he gives you the victory, then he makes it sweet!

God will make honey out of your hell!
Wait! He feed his parents but never told them what happened.
You don’t owe anyone an explanation for your process.
That’s why we have to be careful with who we talk to and what we post.
Some people can’t handle the process.
Some people are not mature enough to understand your process.
Your process may not fit within the confines of someone else’s religious interpretation.
What God did with you, what God did in you, and what God did through you is a process Just for you.
And if they can’t handle your process,
When they say I don’t know how you made it, Tell them it has nothing to do with the HOW, it has everything to do with the WHY!
Why is more important than How.
Why did I make it is greater than how I made it.
Why did I make it because greater is he that is in me then he that is in the world.
Why did I make it?
Because if God before me who can be against me.
Why because the enemies plan will never be greater than God’s purpose.
If God is in it, it never ends defeated.
If God is in it, it never ends broken.
If God is in it, and never ends in ashes.
God never!

God never abandons you.
God never changes.
God never fails.
