The Gospel of John Chapter 4

1 Jesus  knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than

John

though Jesus himself didn’t baptize them—his disciples did).

3 So he left Judea and returned to Galilee.

4 He had to go through Samaria on the way.

5 Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.

*1 Your Children Will Drink From The Well!

5 Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.

Jacob’s well was there!

Jacob’s well was there!

Jacob’s well is located near the Samaritan city of Sychar, another name for Shechem.

In Gen 33  Jacob comes to the city of Shechem following his encounter with Esau and purchases a plot of land east of the city from the sons of Hamor.

Jacob built that well approximately 2000 years before.

Jesus drank from a well that his ancestor built close to 2000 years prior.

How many years prior to Jesus being there was that well dug up? 2,000!

Jesus drank from a source his forefathers built.

Here it is; your children and your children’s children will drink from the well of faith in Christ you are building today!

Let me repeat that.

Your children and your children’s children and your children’s children’s children will drink from the well of faith in Christ you are building today!

This is why you can’t give up.

This is why the battle is so intense.

What you build by faith in Christ in your generation will quench the thirst of future generations.

What you build by faith in Christ in your generation will nourish future generations.

Let me declare by faith the following; In the context of this biblical narrative;

YOU are a modern day Jacob.

You are about to build and some of you are in the process of building already a faith well, a family well, a financial well, a favor well, where Christ is the living water that will bring an end to the thirst; it will bring an end once and for all to….

Generational bondage, financial, mental and spiritual  poverty, addiction, divorce, unbelief, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, lies, división, doubt, shame and insecurity.

Isaiah 49:25 (Amp) “For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save (defend, preserve, rescue, deliver) your children.”

Isaiah 54:13 “All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children’s peace.”

Jeremiah 31:16-17 (Amp)“Thus says the LORD: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work (raising of your children, prayer) shall be rewarded, says the LORD, and they (your children) shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope (something you can expect) in your future, says the LORD, that your children shall come back to their own border (place of peace and safety and well-being).”

Philippians 1:6 (NIV) being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Dig!!

Dig up the well!

It’s time to put the iPhone down and pick up a shovel!

It’s time to put the remote down and pick up a shovel!

It’s time to start swiping and start digging!

Is there anyone here ready to start digging!

Dig!

I hear God say, DIG!

I hear God say, DIG!

*2 Dig, Break, Drink!

Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water from your own well. Proverbs 5:15

A well doesn’t just pop up from the ground.

Here’s the process;

Remove the dirt!

Breakthrough the rock!

Get access to the water table!

Repeat;

Remove the dirt!

Breakthrough the rock!

Get access to the water table!

Repeat;

Remove the dirt!

Breakthrough the rock!

Get access to the water table!

Simply stated;

Dig, breakthrough , drink!

Dig, breakthrough , drink!

Dig, breakthrough , drink!

It begins with the removal of dirt!

We were first introduced to dirt in genesis 2:7 when it says that God made man out of dirt.

The dirt prior to Adam represented a cosmic truth regarding God’s creative ingenuity where through divide infusion he placed all the elements necessary for the perpetuation of life from the ground to the air to the point where all that is required is his breath!

But after the fall, the dirt now represents our fallen humanity.

You have repudiated the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dirt. Psalm 89:39

The Bible is full of verses regarding dirt, soil and dust.

However there are two particular metanarratives in scripture as it pertains to the removal of dirt.

When God says remove the dirt from Genesis to Revelation it’s because you are stepping into one of two corresponding seasons.

First, Remove the dirt;  you stand on holy ground!

The commander of the LORD’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told. Joshua 5:15

The primary carrier of dirt in biblical times, your sandals your footwear.

God says remove it because this is holy ground!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, in the year 2021, holiness matters!

And here’s the great news; in Christ, YOU ARE HOLY!

You are complete in Christ!
You are 100 holy!
What you do may not be holy but who you are in Christ is.
Therefore, pívot!
Let your style match your substance.
Your identity is sanctified.
Your activities have to match your identity.
Reflect what you are; holy!
You are not what you do.
You are what he did for you.

1 John 2:

12 I remind you, dear children: your sins have been permanently removed because of the power of his name.

13 I remind you, fathers and mothers: you have a relationship with the One who has existed from the beginning.

And I remind you, young people: you have defeated the Evil One.

I hear the Holy Spirit say “remove the dirt!” Takeoff your sandals!

I’m about to show California I am a holy God! I’m about to remind America that I am a holy God!

I’m about to show you and your children and your children’s children that I am a holy God!

Wherever God’s presence is present that is holy ground!

I want to remind you according to the Bible, the devil cannot occupy holy ground.

Evil cannot holy ground.

Darkness cannot prevail in holy ground.

Look at your neighbor and tell him the Holy Spirit lives in me.

I live in Christ and he is holy.

Therefore I am holy ground!

I am holy ground!

My family is holy ground!

My health is holy ground!

My future is holy ground!

My church is holy ground!

My mind is holy ground!

My relationships are holy ground!

By the way, the Bible also encourages us, tells us that we should remove the dirt whenever we experience rejection.

If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. Matthew 10;14

When someone rejects you,

When someone denies you,

When they disrespect you,

Do not  walk away with the rejection.

Don’t walk away with the hurt.

Shake it off!

Leave it there!

Leave it in that season!

Leave it in that moment!

Leave it in that relationship!

Do not bring the dirt from your previous relationship into your new relationship.

Do not bring the dirt from your last church into the new church.

Do not bring the drama from five years ago into the next five years.

Leave it there!

God says leave it there!

Don’t carry any longer!

When your hunger for righteousness is greater than your fear of rejection, nothing can stop you!

*3 Go Deep or Go Home!

Wait!

Some water breaks through the cracks and right between the rock and the dirt, there is a superficial layer of water that some people mistake for the water table but it’s just a taste.

Dig through the superficial layers.

Breakthrough the deeper layers.

Why?

The deeper you go the better the water.

Shallow is easy.

Shallow is superficial.

Shallow is convenient.

Shallow water becomes stagnant.

Shallow water, shallow faith, shallow love, shallow living is dangerous and even potentially deadly.

Water at the surface is full of elements that harm the body.

Deep wells have higher protections against potential surface contaminants. (Internet quote)

The best water requires us to go deep!

Purity is found in depth.

Purity is found in depth.

Deep wells are not impacted by surface developments; droughts, fires, storms etc..

When the well is deep, whatever  happens in the surface cannot stop the water from flowing!

When the well is deep, whatever  happens in the surface cannot stop the water from flowing!

We have a choice today between shallow or depth?

Shallow is about convenience.

Deep requires conviction.

Shallow is about feelings.

Deep is about truth.

And to go deep means you must be willing to breakthrough the limestone, the rocks, the hard places.

The wells that last the longest are the wells that go the deepest!

The deeper the well, the longer the life!

You have to break through it order for fresh water to spring up.

A well requires a breakthrough!

Micah 2:13 – The one who breaks open will come up before them; they will break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it; their king will pass before them, with the Lord at their head.

What are you about to see?

Breakthrough!

What is breakthrough?

When you climb over the very thing that attempted to break you! Micah 2:13

You will never experience your breakthrough while you are obsessed with those attempted to break you.

Here is the word for you today; get ready for your breakthrough!

I hear heaven say;

Your family is about to experience a breakthrough!

I decree and declare;

Breakthrough in your family!

Breakthrough in your faith!

Breakthrough in your health!

Breakthrough in your mind!

Get ready for  a breakthrough that will unleash a well of God’s grace, gift and glory!
